Burns Mall Shopping Centre hosted the William Hill Scottish Cup Tour on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 January 2019!
The William Hill Scottish Cup has been out on the road this season, complete with a full trophy experience for fans to enjoy.
Local fans of Scottish Football had an opportunity to re-live the Glory Days when Kilmarnock won the Scottish Cup back in 1997, and celebrated its return to Kilmarnock for the first time in 21 years!
The 1997 Scottish Cup Final was the 112th final of the Scottish Cup, Scottish football’s most prestigious knock-out association football competition. The match took place at Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow on 24 May 1997 and was contested by Scottish Premier Division Club, Kilmarnock and Scottish Division One Club, Falkirk.
The match was Kilmarnock’s eighth appearance in the final and Falkirk’s third. Kilmarnock had previously won the final twice whilst Falkirk had won both of its previous final appearances. Kilmarnock won the match 1–0, the only goal coming from Paul Wright in the 20th minute of the first half.
The Homecoming Kilmarnock Tour was an experience that no Kilmarnock fan would be unable to forget when the Winning Team toured the town in an open-top bus to celebrate their victory with the thousands of local fans lining the streets and cheering them on!
Fans were able to create their very own unforgettable Scottish Cup memories as they experienced the history of the tournament, tested themselves in a series of challenges and had their very own special moment with the trophy.
